S.Korea's LG Chem to run crackers in Jan at around 95% of capacity

Petrotahlil :South Korea’s LG Chem is expected to run its naphtha crackers in January at around 95% of capacity on average due to partial maintenance at one of its units in Daesan city in the country’s southwest, a company spokesman said on Thursday.

The South Korean petrochemical maker is set to conduct partial maintenance at its Daesan cracker earlier than planned, for about seven days from Jan. 13, amid weakening petrochemical margins, the spokesman said.

LG Chem, South Korea’s top petrochemical maker by capacity, operates two naphtha crackers, which have a total ethylene output capacity of 2.5 million tonnes per year.

The crackers are currently running at full capacity.
