Sinopec Shanghai ramps up production of low sulphur marine fuel for Q2 2020.
Petrotahlil - Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical on Monday (15 May) said its 100-day plan to maximise the untapped potential of its refinery in order to increase the production of low sulphur marine fuel has been successfully implemented.
The plan was devised in March to shut down the ‘B’ section of its refinery for upgrading and maintenance works of the residue hydrogenation unit.
Careful execution was needed to retain the output levels of low sulfur marine fuel in the ‘A’ section of its refinery to meet production targets as there was a shortage of manpower during the COVID-19 outbreak.
“Sinopec Shanghai plans to complete the production of 80,000 metric tonnes of low sulfur marine fuel by June 2020 in order to meet the production plan for the second quarter of 2020,” it said.
“This is the first time that our refinery will be using the residue hydrotreating method to produce low-sulphur marine fuel which is more difficult. We will continue to report on production updates.”
